Manual verses Electric Toothbrushes, which are Better?

There are several reasons we prefer an electric toothbrush over a manual toothbrush for our patients.

  1. It is proven that using an electric toothbrush removes plaque and reduces gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) better than a manual toothbrush.
  2. Using an electric toothbrush will minimize recession of your gums, abrasion of your enamel, and abrasion of the roots of your teeth that are exposed.
  3. Electric toothbrushes are easier to manipulate for those patients who have arthritis or any other dexterity issue.

We recommend using an electric toothbrush to our patients and often get asked which one is the best?  It is a personal preference between the sonic toothbrushes and those that have vibrating heads. All types are proven to be better for your dental health than manually brushing. At your next dental cleaning our hygienists are very well versed on the topic of electric toothbrushes and would be happy to go over the various types and differences between them.

We are happy to announce that we are now reopen, however, with a limited schedule to allow for the many changes needed to ensure our patient's safety. We will be seeing less patients daily to allow for social distancing, and time has been added onto each appointment to allow time for proper sterilization and disinfection between patients. Sue & Adrienne are in the process of calling all of our patients to reschedule your cleaning appointment. If you have an immediate dental need please call our office to make an appointment. Be assured we have implemented all of the necessary protocols to keep you safe during your dental visit. We look forward to seeing you soon!Click Here to See Our New Office Protocol
